It’s beginning to feel a lot like AFF…

As I sit typing away at my little apple, awaiting the excitement of parties, parades and fashion events of the next two weeks, I realize I feel very ‘Sex and the City’. Granted, I am not overlooking a fabulous New York City avenue or boulevard, nor am I sporting ridiculously high stilettos (way too much pain for my liking) but these are minor details…

Tonight is the Invitation-only Opening Garden Party, and with my outfit sorted (after sprawling through my exploding wardrobe), new OPI colour applied (I confess, I’m an addict), my aim now is to channel a bit of Carey Bradshaw. To prepare for this part of the process, I am working very hard…this involves: watching ‘Sex and the City’ in my PJs while munching on some delicious macaroons from the Parisian patisserie Ladurée (the very place Carey samples), delivered all the way from the city of lights itself. I have currently consumed ‘green’ and ‘pink’, and I shall now sample some of the caramel and cream varieties (may as well go the whole rainbow right!)  I am just THAT devoted to fashion and the AFF. By tonight, I will be the best Carey-esque, macaroon-loving fashion blogger you ever did meet.

Why all the preparation? Adelaide is about to have its moment in the fashion limelight, showcasing a host of events over the next two weeks, including fashion parades and parties, lingerie shows and designer showcases. Ooh la la! ..or so the French say (it’s the macarroons, they’re starting to take effect!)

This week is full of fun, fashiony-goodness. While the Opening Garden Party (held at the zoo) tonight is an exclusive invitation-only VIP event, the week that follows promises a host of events for all you fashion-savvy (or just fashion-loving) Adelaidians.

I know it’s hard to keep track of everything in our busy lives sometimes, it’s even difficult remembering what you had for breakfast (I am clearly having a healthy dose of macaroons for mine!) SO, here’s a reminder of what’s in store for this week.

Wednesday night plays host to the Finesse lingerie parade ‘From Finesse with Love’, a much anticipated parade likened to the theatrics of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show – it’s our very own Adelaide version. So hot-trot yourselves to PAC for this one, but remember to get your tickets from Finesse first (call 8232 7044)

Friday begins the range of shows that TAFE SA has on offer. It all kicks off with the Alumni party, where all the past graduates of TAFE SA fashion will showcase their designs, including our AFF coordinator Cristina Tridente! Saturday brings with it a Racewear and Millinery Parade by day, and the Graduate Design Parade by night, featuring all the fantastic designs of the TAFE SA graduates of this year. I’m so excited to see what these talented youngsters has produced. Tickets for TAFE SA events are available from the TAFE SA Fashion Office (call 8207 8480)

We’ve got your Sunday session planned for you this week too – head to Norwood Parade for loads of jam-packed fashion fun!  There will be fashion markets and parades happening throughout the day. And we’re putting this one on the house – that’s right folks, this event is FREE. So come along, and bring your friends..soak up all excitement of the parades, peruse the markets, have a bite to eat and finish it off with a little shopping- what better way to spend a Sunday!?

Phew!  That’s this week’s AFF calendar all sorted…I hope you’ve got it in the diary. Stay tuned later in the week when I’ll run you through the excitement of next week’s events including the Paolo Sebastian Fashion Show, and the Chambord SA Designers Showcase amongst others!  (EEK!!)

So, my pretties, if you’re attending the exclusive Opening Garden Party this evening, I will see you there, in your Monday-best. If not, I’ll see you all later in the week for some lovely lingerie and lots more fashion, fashion, fashion!! For now, it’s time to clean up the macaroons and ‘jujj’ my hair…you know, just the regular Monday morning routine.

El. xx
