SA designers you need to know for spring racing season

When the weather starts to warm up and flowers start to bloom, that means that the annual Spring Racing festivities are almost upon us! It’s time to pull together your best outfit for a day at the races and enjoy a glass of bubbly as well.

Here in South Australia we’re lucky to have some incredible home-grown designers that create beautiful millinery, to be paired with one of the many SA racewear designers as well.

So that you can wear local for your next day trackside, we’ve put together a go-to list of SA labels that will have you dressing your best this spring.

Ashlee Lauren

This millinery designer’s pieces have not only been seen on some famous faces trackside at the Melbourne Cup, but at the Grammy Awards on music icon Kesha as well! With stunning couture accessories and crowns in a range of colours and styles, you’ll stand out from the crowd in one of Ashlee Lauren’s headpieces. You can see some of the pieces in person at Couture Culture presented by Burnside Village.

Georgy Collection

With style, class and elegance at its core, Georgy Collection is a great go-to for the races this spring. There’s floral, ruffles and some simpler styles, all the perfect foundation for a great racewear ensemble. None of us can forget seeing style icon Lana Wilkinson rock the Chantelle dress at this year’s Festival of Racing at Morphettville and instantly wanting to buy… See Georgy Collection and more at the SA Designer Showcase presented by Spendless Shoes.

Sylvy Earl

From her humble beginnings in Adelaide, to now being stocked in David Jones, it’s safe to say Sylvy Earl is a state icon when it comes to millinery! Seen on the pages of Vogue Australia, to style icons Lindy Klim, Lana Wilkinson, Stephanie Claire Smith and Edwina McCann (the list goes on), Sylvy’s sophisticated and carefully considered designs aren’t just millinery for Spring Racing, they’re incredible pieces of art you can own forever. Sylvy’s incredible designs will be making an appearance in both the Couture Culture and SA Designer Showcase runways.

Keepsake the Label

When it comes to the Australian Fashion Labels collection of brands, Keepsake the Label is a perfect match for Spring Racing. With feminine and floral styles galore, there are plenty of options at an affordable price for a day trackside. Keepsake will feature in an exciting new event for the 2018 AFF, with the BNKR Runway Plus TDE World set to be an exciting and stylish night of fashion and fun.

Mimi-Jane Millinery

If we weren’t already lucky enough with our local milliners, Mimi-Jane Millinery joined the collection of incredible headwear designers and has plenty to offer. Mimi produces a range of ready-to-wear millinery every season, and can also collaborate with you on a custom piece if you have an outfit you’d like to match. Whether you love something big and bold with feathers and all, or something simpler, there are a range of styles for every girl.

POLKACO

For something a little bright and colourful, take a look at POLKACO and their awesome weaved hats and fascinators. Perfect for the more casual occasions – where you still want to look fabulous – these are wearable art at their finest.
